City of Cape Town cancels R143 Million tender to WPCP for a new 4 MLD (Million Lit per day) skid mounted SWRO Sea Water Reverse Osmosis plans for Hout Bay.
The tender , awarded on November 17th was cancelled on the 23rd March.
The City, or the Supply Chain Management of the City Of Cape Town, determined that this tender be cancelled in accordance with clauses 13(1) (a) and 13(1) (b) of the preferential act. Which loosely translates to that the plant was no longer required and also the budget was no longer available. WPCP , although obviously, hugely disappointed and frustrated, respect the rights of the City in making this decision that they obviously feel this is in the best of its people. Only time will tell whether it was the correct way to go or not.
WPCP WILL CONTINUE TO TENDER FOR ANY FUTURE SWRO PLANTS AND WATE WATER REUSE PLANTS THAT ARE COMING UP FOR TENDER WITH THE CITY.
